Snapshot 6

Music and poetry has a more important meaning to me then I previously realized before writing this snapshot, especially music. Music to me is a way to escape reality, ranging from working-out to lying in my bed at night. It’s a way to take my mind off things that aren’t going the way I want them to go. A genre that really does this trick for me is country music. Country music is what I always go to when I’m felling down about something that is going wrong in my life. It helps me fight through it. But, it isn’t any country song specifically; it’s the genre as a whole. It has a tendency to calm me down and realize that half the things I’m bothered by are truly insignificant and I should just get over it. It helps me realize what I’m blessed with and how much worse it could be. Country music makes me thankful for what I have, rather than looking at what I don’t have. Humans as a whole struggle with this, because we all want more and we never realize are true blessings. A song that specifically illustrates the meaning I gain from country music is called “If you’re going through hell”.  The lyrics that make this song so special are "If you're going through hell. Keep on going, don't slow down, if you're scared, don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there."
