Pop Culture

A movie that had a big influence on me was Freedom Writers. This movie is about student that people think are unteachable. Hilary Swank plays a teacher role. Hilary teaches at Woodrow Wilson High  a school that kids that come from families, with really low income and that are in gangs go.
This movie shows how teacher and people around you can make a change in our lifes. she help kids come together as one when they was taught to hate each other. These kids that was known as unteachable graduated and some even went to college. this movie teaches you that it is not where you came from but where you are going.

The talk show host and actress know as Oprah WinfreyWinfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She experienced considerable hardship during her childhood, saying she was raped at age nine and became pregnant at 14 her son died in infancy. Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee, Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school and began co-anchoring the local evening news at the age of 19 is who i picked that effects childern the most. She grew up very poor she was made fun of and all of the above. She shows childern that you can be anybody you want to be no matters where you came from and her success shows it. Oprah is a women who shows what ever you are going through you can over come it.
